Across the region of HOENN, a small multitude of devices— belonging to a select group of noteworthy people— ping with an alert. Should some of these people check the alert, they would find a simple message:[break][break]

Those who hit 'YES' are then granted a virtual key through their SEELE-APPROVED ROTOM, which then inhabits whatever technology they opt to use for their virtual experience. Those who hit 'NO', or simply ignore the message, will lose the invitation from their screens before too long with no record of it ever existing.[break][break]

The virtual SEELE TABLE is circular in design, made to look as if crafted from some metal alloy, and overall rather unassuming. Around it appears to be an endless black void filled with nothing but fleeting scripts of code, an odd crimson hue that dances throughout like aurora borealis, and what can only be best described as 'digital ghosts': ephemeral silhouettes of faceless people and Pokémon, their voices and movement distorted and jarring.[break][break]

At the center of the table hovers what appears to be PRIMORDIAL STAR. Its luminosity has been greatly toned down, however, and it is no larger than a grapefruit. Even still, its greyish-blue light is the liveliest thing in here... at least until the OBELISK belonging to THE HIEROPHANT manifests into being nearby.[break][break]

It is only a few seconds past 2:00AM when THE HIEROPHANT enters the VIRTUAL CHAT. Whatever he had been doing prior, it certainly wasn't sleeping. When he manifests into being in front of his OBELISK, it is as a skull-faced, robed entity with six arms and a jagged crown. One of his hands wields a staff. Several of the others leaf through the pages of various digital tomes that hover around him.[break][break]

After sparing a moment to look around, THE HIEROPHANT finally speaks, his voice deep and ghastly:[break][break]

All the lights in Josh's basement were off, other than a single desk lamp, making it appear dark from around the corner. Having finished his second week of rehab, the Gym Leader felt comfortable working his left hand, and by corollary, his left arm, with a childhood indulgence of his: old-school video games. He had lost track of time, an alert on his device making him aware of just how late it was. Good thing he had the following day off!

Acceptng the invite, the ROTOM within one of the Leader's more modern consoles possessed it. Donning the VR headest, he witnessed the metallic table and the visual representations of data against an endless black space.

His virtual avatar materialized in SEAT VIII at the table: a medieval knight with an inscrutable face and cleanly cut hair. In his right hand, a SWORD HILT. In his left, the SCALES OF JUSTICE in perfect balance. JUSTICE's voice was as calm and noble as a just leader:

"You called, HIEROPHANT?"

Time was truly relative at this point, if it could be so easily guided, so easily manipulated as she had come to learn. It made no difference that the notification had presented itself at 2am as opposed to 2pm. It would have arrived regardless, and she would have made the choice regardless.[break][break]
Materializing at the VI section of the round table, THE LOVER took her seat. An androgynous, human form of swirling, shifting shadow looked out to the gathering. No eyes, no other discerneable features, almost empty. But every shift the shadowed form made, there was something just below the surface, shrouded within the darkness. She lifted a hand to place it on the table's surface, and before the dark shadow could move with her entirely, a skeleton's hand was placed atop the table first, before slowly being consumed within the swirling darkness, like smoke engulfiing the digits.[break][break]
"Awake? That's a relative term isn't it... Is there any rest for the truly weary," the voice spoke, or was it... two voices, speaking together in perfect sync?[break]
She turned, looking at those who had arrived so far, THE HIEROPHANT, and JUSTICE, the empty eye sockets and prounounced frame of a skull coming through the shadow before settling again.[break][break]
"What are we being gathered for at such an hour?"

After turning the lights off in her study at her Victorian home in Lilycove and being done with her job’s appointments, Elise puts on the VR headset and selects yes when the Seele VR chat prompt shows up. She doesn’t wake Cadeyrn Osmond up since he’s sleeping around the time and her guard doesn’t have to worry about her being in danger at that nightly hour. The Seele Rotom gives her a virtual key to enter and the diplomat is taken to the meeting place of all of the Seele members, a table with different Roman numeral numbers. [break][break]

The form that the Strength takes at the obelisk numbered XI is a shadowed long haired woman with pink hair wearing a flowing pink royal dress, floral cape, and a shining silver crown atop her head. She sees the Hierophant, Justice, and the Lovers speak to each other around the table. [break][break]

“At this hour, it is a little odd to be in the time to talk when it is late.” The woman speaks in her regal demeanor. She speaks like a queen that addresses a royal court. “But I digress. What did you call us for?” She looks at the figure of the Hierophant when she speaks to the skull-faced figure.

The appearance of JUSTICE only briefly distracts from the shadow figure that sets its skeletal hand on the table. The LOVERS blends in well with the darkness of this place. However, the next shadow figure that follows is far too ornately dressed to be missed: the avatar of STRENGTH.[break][break]

"Greetings, members of SEELE. If it's answers you seek, I must disappoint you. I was summoned here just the same. It was not I who called this meeting. I was simply the first to appear." He admits, shifting his one bright eye in the direction of the quiet HERMIT and the EMPEROR crow.[break][break]

This was his first meeting since being recruited. Was it theirs as well? Or did the silent ones already know each other? THE HIEROPHANT supposed, as they waited for whoever set up this clandestine meeting, he could try and investigate.[break][break]

Normally, he’d be inclined to ignore a phone call at two in the morning.[break][break]
But it was the other phone. The one he’d more or less forgotten about since receiving it. Silent, it had remained out of sight and mind until it managed to pull him from slumber tonight, apparently.[break][break]
Despite his curiosity, he wasn’t any less disgruntled by the rude awakening. The fatal flaw to his laidback personality? Exactly this—being pulled from sleep abruptly, and by anyone other than himself.[break][break]
Green hair mussed and his everything about him thoroughly disheveled, he pulled himself out of the haven of his covers and shoved glasses over bleary eyes.[break][break]
A look back over his shoulder was spared for his partner, his movements careful so as to not stir the sleeping body beside as he slipped out of bed, their room, and down the hall. If Rook found him in his bird room sitting blankly on the phone in the middle of the night, well… he’d cross that bridge when he got there.[break][break]
Another moment of pause, he thumbed over NO before sucking it up and tapping YES.[break][break]
The coagulation of pixels flickered in bright verdant shades as his avatar materialized. Not directly into the seat labeled XII, but from above. Some sort of humanoid, winged figure rappelling down from the invisible ceiling. THE HANGED MAN looking very much like a slumbering bat if not for the fact that his feet were tangled in sturdy, red cord.[break][break]
"How's it hangin'?"[break][break]
Rather than pinioned tight against his back, the feathered wings fold around his front and obscure his face from view.[break][break]
“There’s this thing called the afternoon? It’s pretty ideal for meetings, I’ve heard,” he grumbled, and the wings flickered just a bit. Enough so that he swayed lightly in the air from his suspension.

The Ping wakes her up from deep slumber. The message at first odd, she remembered nothing about SEELE, as other memories had taken hold and hidden it. But after some digging she remembered the strangeness of their recruitment methods, she remembered the Rotom, and she remembered what and why she had joined.

And so, though she was tired she pressed YES and allowed herself to be pulled into the virtual space.

But the form that appeared was not that of Johanna, but a jester garbed in toned-down bright colors. Its form is hard to tell properly beneath the cloak it theatrically wore. Bells jingling quietly, gently from the tips of the long trails on its hat, no louder than they could easily be ignored. Its face covered by a smiling mask.

One might have been inclined to believe that this would be a FOOL. But it was not for upon closer inspection three upright cups could be spotted, one on each shoulder and the last on its chest. The Three Cups had arrived filled to the brim with eagerness to bring positivity to the world.

Even Johanna had to take a moment to study her appearance in surprise by her new form within this virtual space. But before long she turned her focus to the table taking a seat as she gave everyone a mildly exaggerated friendly wave.

“Greetings!” The Jester spoke, its voice muffled into a strange distorted mix between male and female. “I pray what little sleep everyone got has left you all well-rested?” Even through its distortion there was a certain genuine positivity to the Jesters statement.

Others materialize into the fray. In fact, THE MOON appears right after he's asked his question, answering it without delay. THE MOON could be lying, of course. He'd be a fool to grant these faceless strangers his complete trust.[BREAK][BREAK]

THE HANGED MAN's humorous entrance is not lost on THE HIEROPHANT, though it does fail to elicit a chuckle from the entity. "Perhaps whoever called this meeting is on the other side of the world, hm? It would explain the little regard for our sleep schedules." He adds, glancing over as the THREE OF CUPS emerges from the darkness.[BREAK][BREAK]

"That being said, it seems we're all connected to the same region."

[BREAK]

The thought escapes his mouth in a mutter. He might have kept this deduction to himself otherwise, but he was still getting used to this virtual world they inhabited. As if to conceal this slip, THE HIEROPHANT quickly shifts into another question.[BREAK][BREAK]

"How did you all come to join SEELE? Have any of you seen the true identity of its creator?" He inquires, reaching out with a free hand to gesture... then accidentally causing a water-like ripple through the fabric of this reality. THE HIEROPHANT watches this effect curiously as it dissipates, slowly beginning to realize this is the tip of the iceberg regarding virtual capabilities in this space.[BREAK][BREAK]

"The more we pool our data together... the easier it will be to collaborate and uncover these mysteries. Wouldn't you all agree?" He continues, panning his gaze across them all.[BREAK][BREAK]

How would you know? he wonders of THE HEIROPHANT'S questions, growing even more suspicious when the assumption of region is made. This one seemed to know more than him. Had he been here longer?[break][break]

Perhaps it was their complaints of the time that led to such a deduction. Not an illogical one to make, but his suspicions are always high.[break][break]

There were many qualms about the lateness of the hour as a handful of other figures emerged at their assigned sections of the round table. THE LOVER looked out with empty gaze, the skeleton's bones beneath the swirling shadows visible at each shift and turn.[break]
Thus far... Nothing particularly striking had taken place... They were summoned, but for what?[break][break]
"Whoever called us clearly assumes their anonymity to be the highest priority," the shadow wondered, speaking to THE HIEROPHANT's wonderings of their summoner's location.[break][break]
"Little could be said for your own. That's a bold assumption to make," they regarded, the dual tone of their voice a bit pointed to THE HIEROPHANT's lack of subtlety on making broad statements. If the name of the game was hidden identities and anonymity, it would be interesting to see who might breach the barrier first.[break][break]
An eyeless gaze shifted to that of THE EMPORER, the bird had its own thoughts in regards to the notion of 'pooling' data, and sharing information. THE LOVER nodded, the edges of their skull appearing at each bob of the gesture.[break][break]
"You sound suspicious of our summoner, HIEROPHANT. I'm sure we all have our reservations, but agreeing to take on these identities came with accepting the unknown. For now," THE LOVER wondered.[break]
"In the interest of pooling data, is your first priority trying to uncover the identity of the one who called us here?"[break]
Or were they more interested in the identities of those that surrounded them. THE LOVER was beginning to wonder where their suspicions should truly lie.

"Yes," answered JUSTICE as the seats continued to fill, the masked and veiled members of SEELE gathering at the virtual table. He didn't even noticed their connections were all from the same region. Just who was pulling the strings of those blessed by the tarot?

"I have not ascertained the identity of this space's creator," JUSTICE's deep voice echoed, the tip of his index finger crackling with an electric spark. "But the LOVER raises a point. This room's security goes beyond government level. I've never seen anything like it. What kind of... data were you looking to pool, though?" He was still skeptical of the whole meeting. It was so secure as to be almost unhackable. What was so important that it required anonymity at great expense?
